2019 Award Animal Program
Guidelines
Announcing the inaugural year for the award animal program for the rabbit and poultry departments.
- Must have shown in the project area for at least 2 years and be showing in the 2019 fair.
- Must be at least 12 years old or older.
- Enter with the department superintendents when you check your animals in at fair.
- Exhibitors must turn in a one to two paragraph essay.
- Include information about yourself.
- Your animal care and knowledge.
- Why you would like the opportunity to win this award.
- Essays need to be turned in to the department superintendent by noon on Monday, August 5th.
- Exhibitors will participate in a question and answer session with department superintendents during showmanship.
- Winner for rabbits will be given a breeding pair which they will bring back to exhibit next year along with an offspring or two if they have any. Poultry winner will be awarded a single animal this year which they will bring back to exhibit next year.
- Winners will be announced during the Small Animal Grand Slam show on Friday, August 9th.
- Exhibitors may apply for both awards, but it will require a separate essay and interview for each award.
Scores based on:
- a. Showmanship 30 pts
- b. Question and answer 40 pts
- c. Essay 30 pts
The 2020 guidelines will be similar. Revisions will occur after the 2019 fair to better this new program.
