Newaygo County Fair Sheep
This page was created as a way to disburse information to those interested in keeping up to date on the various happenings of the Newaygo County Fair Sheep Committee. We will post pertinent information on upcoming clinics, deadlines and tips on showing.
2024 SHEEP PEN DECORATIONS: We are planning to hang the usual board that you will be able to staple poster board/light foam board. Each pen will have a 4' overhead space (pen assignments will be posted as soon as final set up is complete so that you may coordinate with your pen buddy on decorations - whoever made your pen reservation should know who your pen buddy is). For the Fremont FFA group we plan to have one large pen for all those lambs that are currently housed together - you will have both sides of that board. Keep in mind that you will not want anything that can hang down that the lamb can reach... if they can reach it... they will eat it. Also, keep this in mind when hanging your class ribbons. We have showman every year that lose one or two ribbons by hanging just low enough the lamb can get a nibble - and they are gone. Ribbons cannot be replaced. We order just enough that is needed for the shows. THE THEME THIS YEAR IS "DECADES" BE CREATIVE!
The sheep department is missing TWO BLACK 6FT PEN PANELS that were being stored in the horse stalls along side the new barn. If you have seen these panels please reach out to Jodi Robeck 231-245-5290 or if you know where they are at if you could kindly get them back to the sheep barn as soon as possible. We desperately need these returned. THANK YOU!
